Experience IWalk

To connect the Memorial Plaza’s educational installations with eyewitness accounts of the Holocaust, the Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance has developed the pioneering IWalk mobile app in partnership with the USC Shoah Foundation. IWalk guides visitors through the Memorial Plaza using personal testimony from Holocaust survivors and witnesses. The app is free to download and is available to anyone with an iOS or Android device.

 

You can experience three (3) IWalks for the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza:

History of the Holocaust

Duration: minimum 60-70 minutes tour

Audience: Middle School, High School and General Public

Languages: English and Spanish

Topics:

  • the conditions that led up to the Holocaust
  • the horrors of the Holocaust
  • the universal lessons of Holocaust

Propaganda and Anti-Semitism

Duration: minimum 30-40 minutes tour

Audience: Middle School, High School and General Public

Languages: English and Spanish

Topics:

  • the Nazis’ utilization of propaganda
  •  how propaganda fueled hatred towards Jews and other marginalized people
  • the concept of Master Race
  • the Theresienstadt ghetto as a site of propaganda

Contemporary Antisemitism

Duration: minimum 30-40 minutes tour

Audience: High School and General Public

Languages: English and Spanish

Topics:

  • Contemporary antisemitism between 2015 and 2018
  • Recent antisemitic incidents
  • Agency to fight hatred

IWalk Download Instructions:

  1. In the app store, download the app titled “IWalk – USC Shoah Foundation”.
  2. Once downloaded, tap “Explore IWalks”.
  3. From the list of countries, select “United States”.
  4. Select one of the 3 IWalks available for the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza.
